SJSA Adult Classes & Workshops

Caribbean Movement
Step into the vibrant rhythms and traditions of the Caribbean! This class blends Afro-Caribbean, soca, reggae, and traditional island dances into an energizing and joyful experience. Along with learning dynamic choreography and movement techniques, students will also discover the history and cultural significance behind each style. From exploring the roots of Afro-Caribbean dance to understanding how music and movement have shaped island traditions, participants gain both physical skills and cultural knowledge. Open to all levels, Caribbean Movement builds strength, flexibility, and confidence while celebrating the heritage and spirit of the Caribbean.

Senior Art Exploration Program

Classes and workshops in visual arts (painting, drawing, crafts), music (sing-along, voice, instruments), dance/movement suited to older bodies, drama and storytelling. Key characteristic of the program include:

  1. Group settings to encourage social interaction and reduce isolation

  2. Flexible scheduling (daytime hours, shorter sessions)

  3. Free to seniors

  4. Outreach to Adrian Center in St. John and collaboration with organizations serving older adults
